I'm feeling frisky as always, so here's my $0.02. There is a very strong likelihood that users would abuse the ability to have multiple accounts. Users would have to be monitored in such a fashion that it would defeat the whole purpose of "time management." Users could vouch for themselves, rep themselves, continuously bump their own threads, gang-rep other users, and boost other statistics such as Kudos. Not to mention there is no rational point in having multiple accounts, hence why it is disallowed on most forum boards. Having multiple accounts has also created the masquerade of untrustworthiness, even if the user(s) with multiple accounts have good intentions.
If this were to implemented and a user with two accounts receives a preliminary one month ban for a 100% warning level, would their other account be banned also?
There is two downsides that I can think of for banning multiple accounts:
1. It can be time consuming, however, properly monitoring users with multiple accounts would be just as time consuming.
2. Banning multiple accounts lessens the availability of many usernames for other users to create, as would allowing multiple accounts.
Sounds like trouble imho.
Edit: I don't see how allowing multiple accounts would increase activity. That's indecipherable. Activity is not determined by how many accounts one person has. I could post the same amount of posts with one account, as I could with two or even three accounts. Users would still be using one account at a time regardless. Perhaps I am being too close-minded, but allowing multiple accounts would more than likely have a very, and that's a big very, little bearing on the increasing of activity.
