Sometimes a high heart rate is due to excessive physical activity, while other times it can be due to panic, stress or anxiety. To truly measure your heart rate, one must analyze his or her results while at in a relaxed, resting state.

The average heartrate in resting position is about 70 for males. Lower heartrates are commonly associated with athletic males while higher heartrates are often linked to obesity or general bad health. When did you measure this heartrate?
70-80 is the healthy average measured in rest.
Athletic males tend to have lower heartrates, for example one of my friends who is a long distance runner averages ~50 beats per minute.
Higher heartrates (90+) are often associated with obesity.
