My Grandad.

My Grandad who's 90 is currently in hospital after falling and breaking his wrist pulling these 2 Turkish bastards' dust-bin in. He has a slight piece of Alzheimers yet he is still able to look after him self, clean the house etc. My grand-mother (his wife) died a few months before I was born, so he's been single since then.

The reason I called them Turkish bastards' is the fact that, they let them selves into his house to 'take him a dinner' once a week, by using the spare key above the porch door, they've stole thousands of pounds from him, they even had the cheek to ask him, a 90 year old, Alzheimers' suffering man, for £400 to have their teeth done! When they first came here, he went on a bus for over an hour too a court, to help them get a Visa because he 'loved their kids' and they called him 'grandad.' But, he still would leave the key their, and when they actually knocked to come in, he would let them in and they'd roam about his house. He obviously has poor hearing so he was a-bliss to this. Yet we remain help-less due to the fact we can't prove it's them. I suggested hiding video cameras in rooms, but my parents, basically said it was stupid. Fml.

So, he's fell and broke his wrist, and waits over 10 HOURS in A+E for a bed, a 90 year old man waiting nearly half a day for a bed! And David Cameron is doing all these stupid cuts, he's not right in the head! So, he finally gets a bed, and 2-3 days later he's going to the toilet, we think some-one was with him, but waiting outside, and he has fell and broke his HIP. Total neglect by staff there.

So, 2 days ago we now find out he has a chest infection. He's taken but but the anaesthetist said he wasn't strong enough. He has a chest x-ray and we find he also has a chest infection, so he's gone from a broken wrist, to being in hospital for 1 week, and ending up with the addition of a chest infection and broken hip!

My parents got back from visiting him tonight, and it doesn't look good. He doesn't really know what's going on and keeps pulling faces, he says he needs the toilet but when my mum said he'd just been, he said 'oh right.' Basically, it doesn't look good.

So they're hoping to take him into surgery tomorrow (please God, please) and if they can, and it's successful he will be able to get out of bed and sit in the chair, which will help his chest, but he remains on Oxygen. However, there's a chance he might not come through the operation tomorrow if he has it, which is what this whole thread is about.

Basically, I'm just looking for some support and prayers, I'm not religious, but I need any help I can get. I just really hope he has this operation tomorrow, not in 1-2 weeks as his chest could get 10x worse and he may develop Pneumonia, which would be really bad.

So I'd just like anyone to post some support and say some prayer's for him, if I'm not online tomorrow, you know why.

I shall update this post tomorrow with the result.

Many thanks,
Jonathan.

Please don't Tl;dr this thread. You need to read it too see how horrible these turkish people are.

My dearest sympathies go out to you Jonathan. I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather's misfortune as well as your grandmother's passing. The best thing you can do at this point, if his nurse permits you to do so, is to spend some time with him. Make him feel like he's not alone and that he'll pull through. There have been many miraculous stories of patients surviving operations just because they've bettered their will to live. Just by being with your grandfather a couple of hours daily, you will acquire the support you're yearning for.

My heart goes out to you and bless his soul.

Sincerely,
Kevin

He made it through surgery successfully and now there's 3-4 months wait in Hospital for his hip to fully repair etc.

I'm so happy right now!

Thanks,
Jonathan

That's wonderful news. I'm very happy for you both.

3-4 Month's in the Hospital is a very long time, make sure you visit him alot!

He's been in around 1 week, and I've only been in once, but sorta due to the fact he's only had a broken hip for like 4 days. He was meant to be coming out in like 3 days, before when he just had the broken wrist.

I'm glad to hear this fortunate news about your grandfather.

Just to share a bit of experience, my grandfather was taken to a hospital where the treatment wasn't too great either. Though he wasn't robbed, they failed to take proper care of him (Delaying operations, medicine, etc.), when it was evident that he was in need of it. Even though we had confronted them about it, they continued to tell us that "There was nothing they could do".

Because of that, he lost his life. While I'm glad he made it through this, just be sure to keep a close eye on how future procedures are dealt with - You don't want to have to go through the same agony my family and I did, I promise.

I'm Glad your Grandad made it out of the surgery OK. I look forward to seeing your news on his full recovery (which we both will pray will happen).

Wow, that's just sick. My conscience would kill me if I stole from a guy like your grandpa who was so old.
