Mr. X said:Greetings Ewan,
Your database would be worth no more than $25.00 - $30.00. You only have 356 members, and I doubt more than 100 of them are active daily.
The forum itself I would estimate at $35.00. The theme used is widely available, and I, personally, could re-create your forum in less than half-an-hour. The domain may be worth some value; around $15.00, it is an 'all right' domain. It does the job, but it's nothing too special.
All-in-all, if you were to sell the forum in its' current state, I'd estimate a buying price of around $60.00. Although I would not advise selling the forum; as it would just be a waste of all that effort you put in.

You could also just merge your forum to another forum and become staff on that other forum.
Jimmy said:Ewan, the Database costs around $30. That's my estimation.
The domain is good and would cost $15 or more. But since your domain is attached to your hosting you can't separately sell it without CPanel.
The total cost of your forum would be $50.

I'm wanting to sell it because I don't want to manage it any more, I want to start a new forum up in a different niche, which I need the money for. The general discussion niche is just too hard to break into now. It's been a great learning experience and a member already donated $10 for a group so the domanin has already been paid off.
Where do you suggest I sell it?
Mr. X said:No matter what genre of forum you plan on creating; there will always be a bigger and better forum of that genre already hosted on that beautiful thing we call the Internet. You must input all your time, energy and enthusiasm in-order to make your forum stand out from the crowd. No matter what genre of forum you're planning, do NOT create a gaming genre forum, as it will fall flat on its' face from day one - that's the most useful piece of advice you'll ever receive.
The selling of your forum is dependent on where you advertise. I suggest advertising via Craigslist; Hack Forums; and yours truly, Forum Korner. I've always found greater success when selling a forum, via Hack Forums, as you'll most likely find one child who wants to 'rule' the Internet with his / her hugely successful forum.

I'll try selling it on HF maybe as well as here and maybe some other boards. Is Paypal ok to use? Never done anything like this before and don't want to get screwed over. Should I try find a middle-man?
Mr. X said:PayPal should be an acceptable form of payment, as long as the funds you send / receive are never sent as a 'gift'.
Always use a middle-man when performing any sort of trade / purchase. I highly recommend when selling a forum that you receive the payment before any sort of information is exchanged.
Ewan said:Normal payments through Paypal aren't gifts are they?
And 1 more thing, what's to stop them charging back?
Mr. X said:No, a 'gift' payment is, well, a gift. Although you cannot charge-back on a gifted payment.
There is nothing to stop the buyer charging-back; you just need to judge the characteristics of the person your dealing with. Make it clear to the buyer the terms and conditions of the sale, and take the occasional screenshot or two, just for later proof, if-be needed.
