It wasn't too bad for a first try, but it was really simple. I suggest grab a tutorial for photoshop of something that looks fairly difficult, just a bit out of your range and work towards it. Its a really good way to progress, when i first used photoshop I grabbed a tutorial for a signature and just went from there.
 
That's grand, I like the text, did you use the liquify tool for the edges? (If you're using Photoshop)

That's a really great picture you made for a beginner in PhotoShop editing. Photoshop can be pretty hard to master, and that looks like a professional made it. Great job on the editting!
