My Favourite Quote as an Atheist.

If you think being an Atheist is as extreme as you claim it to be, then just say I don't believe in a god.

I don't care if I seem arrogant to you, because the thought of a magical creator is rather silly and I think it's quite obvious, through my knowledge, that there is no god.

I could be wrong, but I have spent many nights asking how it could be possible, and I never come up with a possibility of a god.

There are extremes to every religion.

Also, I am just stating that religion is a sickness, a disease, and you labeling yourself as an Atheist, are part of it.

One day you will wake up and realize that its not worth torturing yourself over whether there is or isnt a higher power. It just isnt worth it, and nobody will ever be able to come up with a definite answer. Pointless.

I live in a very religous family, my mother was a pastor and my step-father was one, too. I go to church every now and, then. When I'm there, I ask myself " Why am I here?" ironically I'm atheist, but attend church. As a sit here typing this, I see 3 crucifixions of Jesus Christ, yet I don't even believe in him. I believe the concept of a diety or a religon should be for others to believe in, so that they'll have hope when they have no hope left. Religon also helps maintain a obedient society, but more importantly, religon gives people hope. I've prayed before, I prayed, because I lost all hope, despite the fact that I'm an atheist, I still prayed. Also, many people use god for inspiration. Religon isn't a sickness, and yes, we'll most likely never come up with a answer about if there is a diety or not, but religion is deffinitely not a sickness or a disease. It's more of a virtue if anything.

The core concept of religion is genius. It provides a set of rules with an extreme reward for obeying, and an extreme punishment for not. As you said it does provide (false) hope, and is a convenient crutch to fall back on when the going gets tough.

However, religion is a sickness because of what it has become. Millions of deaths have been at the sole hands of religion, as well as ridiculous stereotypes and unforgiving judgments. Countries have seperated, babies have been castrated, the list goes on. The bad outweighs the good. Therefor, it is indeed a sickness. Children being molested by popes, multiple women being forced to have sex with the same man. It is brainwashing, and it begins from when people are first born. Greed, power, it all plays a role.

You are blind. And really arent intelligent enough to hold a logical debate. You cant even back up your own worthless points. You are atheist but still pray and go to church? Get real.

By the way, your family isnt what they claim to be. Whether it be Christian, Catholic, whatever. They do not abide by the rules of the religion they claim to follow. They simply break them, and then ask for forgiveness to whatever "god" they falsely depend on. Pathetic.

So you're saying those things would have never happened if their was no such thing as religion? My family forces me to go to church, I prayed because I hit rock bottom, I didn't know what else to do, I was desperate. And don't insult me or my family. Who are you to judge? You don't know me nor my family.

To the extent of which they have become, no. Religion has also set us back technologically by who knows how long. Had religion never Bern created, we could be hundreds of years further advanced as opposed to what we are now. Maybe even more. It's a little depressing, but it is indeed a fact.

Also, I sm not insulting your family. I didn't call them any sort of name, but I am describing there choices as ignorant and pathetic, yes. I can't say I blame them, because I assume they too were bever given a choice, or a chance to decide for themselves. They were brainwashed from birth to believe and put total trust in an adult fairy tale. It's sad that they never saw past the gimmicks and the false promises that have been forced upon them. I pity them in a sense, and the only reason I am pointing this out to you is with the hope of diminishing that little piece of hope you are still holding on to. I promise you man, you will get no where with prayer. If it puts you at ease then by all means continue, but dong be dissapointed when it goes unanswered. I don't think your family consists of bad ppl, I don't know them enough to say so. I think they are more than likely good ppl with good intentions. It just shits me to see do many ppl so decieved into donating money and essentially putting the absolute fate of there lives in the hands of something they can make zero physical contact with. And the worst part is, they spread it. Anyways, I'm sorry if I offended you man, I know family is a touchy subject. I never brought it up though.

I'm not atheist, but this definitely my favorite quote.
"To the common man religion is true, To the wise it is false, and to the rulers it is useful"
This is my favorite quote regarding religion, and I would really like this quote if I was atheist.
Surprised no one else said it was theirs.

"Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong." - Christopher Hitchens
"There's only one problem with religions that have all the answers, they don't allow questions" - unknown
Those are some of my favs

This doesn't regard religion directly, but you can relate it as you please.

"the world will become whole when the power of love exceeds the love of power."

I believe those are the words of Jimi Hendrix.

Great quote man! Im an atheist aswell

I think religions were mainly created to manipulate people. Usually, the manipulation is good, but it gets corrupted at times. For example, Christianity keeps people doing good because according to their religion, they must do good.

Personally, on the note of how we got here and who to worship, I don't think we will ever be able to comprehend or know who is watching or how we were created.

Athiests do have a national holiday. Fools day

Favourite Quote ever.

I'm not atheist nor religious, I'm more of an agnostic type-of person. I will vouch for that quote though.

My favorite one is "Everyone's an atheist. When you figure out why you reject other gods, you'll realize why I reject yours."

That's a very nice quote.

It's 100% true, how everyone assume their religion is the only religion and no other god can exist, they never think about how that affects their religion.

Damn this quote comes at other religions necks.

That's actually a really amazing quote. I like this one just a little more than the one in the OP. Both really nice quotes

My favorite quote about religion in general has to be:
