I was assigned to create a Shakespearean sonnet for my English class today. This was my product.
Monsterman & the Tinkertoys
I recently escaped the delusion;
I realized the miscreation's ploy.
He cast a spell on me, an illusion.
He the headman, I, a tinkertoy boy.
Nurture hampers the tinkertoys' brilliance.
We compete to see who is the best drone.
Effort reflected, not intelligence.
We are processed and sent to the workzone.
Life's essentials are neglected detail.
We know not how to love our heart's desire.
Worthwhiles howbeit beyond the pale.
We know not how to cede, we are haywire.
The monsterman wants to eat me tonight,
At the foot of my bed, unto twilight.
I'm not much of a poet, however, I would enjoy some critiques. I'm curious as to if any of you can decipher what the monsterman represents and what the tinkertoys represent. The sonnet isn't too vague, I believe. The volta isn't very distinguishable or transparent, too. I attempted to weave a depthful meaning into the fabric of the poem.
