For this computer, It doesn't come with a Monitor, and If I want to buy this monitor..

Do monitors need to match the desktop computer? Should I look for certain inputs so they work together?

Depends, if your card supports DVI. Than use DVI or HDMI. Dont get monitor that uses VGA. It will give you bad picture quality.

I suggest you don't get anything from Dell just cause of their customer service and how shitty it is. You'd get a better quality monitor from Samsung or Sony anyway.
