Monitor keeps turning off

Model: Hanns G HW191D

Trying to run it through VGA onto my Xbox. I used the power chord and VGA chord from my other monitor because I only had one set of chords, and they seemed to fit into this newer monitor. There is also another port for DVI which I dont think is relevant here. I dont want to use the monitor for anything other than my xbox.

The problem: When I turn the xbox on, the monitor shows the startup screen for a few seconds and then the screen goes black. The monitor doesnt turn off, but the screen doesnt display anything.

I tried to use google to find the answer, but there were so many different answers that dont make sense to me because I dont know anything about these things.

Any suggestions are welcome, I really need someone to sit down and walk me through it. I feel like this is a lot simpler than im making it sound. Feel free to PM me if you can help.

Are all the cords connected correctly ?

@Dunk they're in 3 seperate sections, I dont know which one it technically belongs in. Im sure a mod will sort that out, in the meantime i'd like to keep the replies strictly to solving this problem, and you aren't helping with that.

@Shift I believe so. Its only a the power chord and the vga which are both in. Like I said it works for a few seconds and then the screen goes black.
