dig down into a cavern, and find a place where lava and water are hitting. Then under the water there will be obsidian. Get it with a diamond pickaxe, and get a minimum of 10 obsidian. Then you can make your portal. Once the portal is made, take flint and steel and light it and step inside, your screen will get very wavy and wait and it will say, "entering the nether" and there will be lots of netherrack. This is very useful because the top of it lights on fire, so you can put netherrack that is on fire on top of mountains leading back to your home, so if you get lost, you can find your way back.

wolves are helpful because they kill most things that attack you, if you see a wolf, take a bone out and press LT. If hearts come above the wolf, it is now yours. Your wolf's tail indicates how healthy and hungry it is. If its tail is down, give it meat ( go up to it with meat such as a pork chop and press LT). You will see your wolf's tail go up. Be careful when playing with friends though because if your friend accidentally hits you, your dog will kill your friend. Press LT on your wolf to make it sit.

if you want a house or town to look nice, make lots of glass for windows. It makes houses look a lot nicer. You get glass from putting sand in a furnace. Also use torches, and make gardens.

if you get something you don't want anyone to be able to take, you will need to hide/protect it. A good way to do this is to have a room and make the door to it an iron door. Then make a lever/button and put red stone towards where the door is but you will have to hide the trail or your friend might see it.

well there isn't much tips for this except for when you get farther down be cautious for lava, and be ready to patch things up do lava can't get to you.

if you want to make a world, I suggest starting on peaceful, because your health regenerates and there are no monsters but once you have a good world and your bored, switch the difficulty to easy or hard. But make sure creepers don't get near your house or it could be ruined.
