A new DARPA-developed technology is able to buy soldiers more time to get medical care and could potentially save many lives. You simply inject two liquids where a soldier is bleeding. These liquids react and create a foam that presses against an internal wound and restricts the flow of blood. This would buy at least one extra hour to get proper medical care.

Almost 85% of preventable battlefield deaths are from internal wounds that need surgery or other in-hospital treatment. This "magic foam" could provide the extra amount of time needed to get an injured soldier from a firefight to a place where they can receive the right medical attention.

This foam may be made for civilian use as well, it just needs FDA approval.

I thought you meant this.

This would be really useful for civilian use, but FDA takes forever. They'll be worried about lawsuits if this stuff gets into the heart or whatever by accident.
