I'd like to pose a Question; How old are you?
 
there is proof that there was life on mars. Also they are not looking for "aliens" they are looking for water or algae. Pretty much any form of life. I believe there might be. Its quite possible billions of years ago mars was similar to earch in some form.
 
At one point there was a lot of water on mars. No evidence of any advanced life forms. That's that.
