When you view the forums for the first time it is hard to understand what the purpose of these forums actually are. Personally I believe it would be more user friendly to make the purpose more obvious at first glance.

A few ideas;
  • Some sort of slogan, below the logo in the header.
  • Or anything that may get the message across that these forums
    are a marketplace.


I dunno though, just my personal view point
 
Could be rather annoying if you decide to clear your cookies regularly.
 
What else do you purpose then?
 
Edit: Not quite sure if you meant propose, instead of purpose, but if you meant propose then read below.

Not quite sure if I'm honest. You could have an additional bar up the top that only appears if the user is logged out. With an FAQ link, which ofcourse links to a different page which has any frequently asked questions already answered.

"What is Elite Silver?" - for example.

Correct, but what you just said has nothing to do with advertising the fact that these forums are a marketplace.

Yeah okay, that was just a suggestion that popped into my head instantly. I'm sure, upon thought a better idea could be come up with

What if there is more than 1 person under the same household that wish to use the forums. How will poor Timmy know what these forums are?
 
My brother's name is not Timmy no, haha.
But what if I didn't want Timmy to know I was a member on these forums?
