Is the ElGato worth it?

I was going to get the el Gato, but I was wondering if it would work with sony vegas? Like can I record, then open and edit in vegas, my friend says it doesnt work but then again he has a mac. I currently have the very first hauppauge hd pvr's that came out in 2010 and am looking for something thats easy to use, heard the el gato even lets you trim the part of the clip you want. if thats true thats insane! any owners in here?

It's okay. It does work with Sony Vegas, I don't see why it wouldn't. I have one - don't ever use it. You get pretty bored making videos with no motivation at all.
