Is it really a Good Friday?

We all know that Christian people celebrate Good Friday whaich falls in the month of April. However, the Good Friday commemorates the death of Jesus. I feel it is very odd to wish 'happy memories' on a death anniversary. So why it is called Good Friday? Have any idea?
