iPhone overheating, slow charging and small battery life.

My iPhone recently got splashed by some water and I put it in rice for 48 hours straight after. It wouldn't turn on at all after about 12 hours in rice so I left it in for another 12. After 24 hours in rice the phone would turn on but would charge insanely slow (about 1% every 20 minutes). The lock button would also not work. I left it in for another 24 hours after that and I did a complete restore, now the lock button works, but the phone charges at about 1% every 10 minutes, the iPhone will overheat when charging and when in use (to the point where I can barely hold in my hand) and the charge drops from 50% to 0% in about an hour.

Can anyone identify what part of the iPhone would be damaged? My first guess would obviously be the battery, but I'm not too sure. Please don't tell me to take it into Apple because the phone is well out of it's warranty and they charge ridiculous amounts of money for replacement parts.

My guess would be the water managed to seep in and corrode the battery,I think that there is no helping it after that, but my answers are assumptions, that's all the help I am "qualified" to offer, sorry and GL.

Thanks for the help. I'm probably going to take it to one of those cheap ass stores at the shopping centre and get a replacement battery. This phone's on it's last legs now :p
