Disclaimer:
If you are receiving any errors when trying to restore your iDevice (Ex: This device is not eligible for this requested build) then you must follow the guide at the end of this tutorial. This guide is currently for Mac users only.

PLEASE FOLLOW CAREFULLY

Step 1: Download the IPSW for your SPECIFIC device here: http://www.ipswdownloader.com/

Step 2: Back-up your iDevice

Step 3: Put your iDevice in recovery mode.
(Plug into computer)
1- Have your phone unlocked and the Activation screen opened.
2- Hold down the power button and the home button TOGETHER for 10 seconds
3- Let go of the power button, but keep the home button pressed down.
4- You should be alerted via iTunes that you're in Recovery mode

Step 4: Option Click(Mac) or Shift click(PC) on "Restore iPhone"

Step 5: Select your downloaded IPSW

HOW TO BYPASS ERROR(s)(MAC):
So the case for me is that I kept getting the error, "This requested build is not eligible for your device." This is how you fix this error:

Step 1: Open a finder window, or click on your desktop so your task bar shows up.

Step 2: In your task bar, go to the "Go" section and then select, "Go To Folder".

Step 3: Delete everything in that window and type in: /private

Step 4: Find the folder "ETC"

Step 5: Go into ETC and find a file named "Hosts"

Step 6: Drag this file onto your desktop, open it, and delete any lines containing "gs.apple.com"

Final Step: Replace this file with the original one, then proceed back to iTunes and Option-click Restore iPhone. (Backup first if wanted.)

It should work now.

Hope this helps :)

This shit happened to my iPad last night. all I had to do was update iTunes and then put my iPad in DFU and restored and updated to iOS 7.0.2 or whatever

Great guide! iOS 7 is worth all of the work, in my opinion. It's a really nice update.

Thanks! I posted this because many iOS 7 beta users (like me) got kicked off and were forced to activate their account via developer program. This is how to get rid of that.

Some people got it lucky. :/
For me, I had a crap load of errors.

Yeah, I had a weird time when I tried to update from the beta (without a dev account). I don't remember exactly how I got it to work, though. I think I did what Frost did and just updated iTunes (after like an hour of messing around with the old version :|)

This happened to me last night what I did was download ios7 and kept restoring it on my sisters laptop not my comp and after 2 hours it worked
