Sorry if the guide is so long, I have tried to demonstrate everything you need to know to do this lure.
iolaka's Red Portal luring guide
I use this lure myself because I don't like using public lures, it works pretty well and I can get people constantly.
No, this isn't the best guide out there, nor is it one of the best, but it will definitely work.
To learn this lure, you must read everything, you cannot read half then assume that you know what you are doing and go on with the lure.
Feel free to tweak this method to your liking so that you may have the best experience possible when luring.
No, this will not only get rune noobs, I've gotten constant kids in dragon/bandos all the time.
My first hour of luring with this method made me 50M. My very first lure(5-10mins) was a 10M drop.
Me: Hey
Them: Hey?
Me: Want to be in a 10m drop party for utube?
Them: Sure
Me: Come in front of G.E (assuming as you're in the same world as your victim)
Them: Ok, sec
Wait until they go there
Bring them south a little bit, so no one can see you talking with him
Me: Ok, im gonna start recording sec
Me: Say hi 2 utube
Them: Hi
Me: I'm going to be doing a drop party for 10m
(Make something up here, either keep talking or read below)
Show them the 10m
(Make something up here, either keep talking or read below)
Trade them the games necklace without saying anything at first
Right after, you tell them to rub it and go to gamers grotto
Me: Rub it and go to gamers grotto
Take them to Stealing Creation and tell them that you are going into the red portal,
but don't go out because it's danger (this will get them more confident to not bank their items)
If they do bank their items, tell them to take it out (?to look good?) for the video.
Me: Mage lvl?
Them: 62 (example)
Me: Can you telegrab?
Them: Yes, but I need the runes.
Get 1 air rune and 1 law rune, you should have around 10 in your inventory at all times when luring).
Hand it to them
Run to the clan wars section and go inside the red portal, make sure no one sees you(not 100% necessary), if you and him are inside alone, then that's good.
Now you have 2 methods that you could do,
1)
MAKE SURE YOUR PARTNER IS NORTH OF WHERE YOU ARE BRINGING YOUR VICTIM(so your victim can't see you), AND IS ABLE TO SEE WHEN YOUR VICTIM WALKS IN!
Barrage + claws is a necessity, and I cannot stress this enough, I've failed so many lures with only blitz and dds, had to learn the hard way.
Bring your victim all the way East or West (depending on where you are luring), and say "Okay I'm recording, dropping".
Right click on the 10M and click Add to Pouch, then Withdraw 15k, go behind the first/second tree (as long as it's behind a tree, then you're good),
and drop it there. Now run outside of the danger zone and tell him "dropped it", then just wait. If he starts asking
too many questions, just stall him, give him stupid answers or something... just stall him long enough for the coins to show up.
Once he sees the coins, he's obviously going to try and telegrab it, your partner should be able to see him as soon as he telegrabs
the coins, so your partner will barrage him, then claw spec and kill him.
2)
Have a Red Dye, and a Yellow Dye in your inventory at all times, preferrably 3-5 of each.
Me: Follow me
DO NOT GO INTO THE DANGER ZONE AT ALL, IN FACT STAY AGAINST THE WALL AT ALL TIMES WHILE HE'S FOLLOWING YOU
Bring them all the way East or West (depending on where you are luring)
At first they will think that you are trying to kill them (sometimes), so after he's followed you all the way East or West,
make sure he has run on, if he doesn't just run around until he puts it on(he will want to catch up to you)
Now once you are at the end of East or West, mix the Yellow Dye with the Red Dye, as soon as you do so run inside on your minimap
That will force him to walk inside the danger zone (THIS ONLY WORKS IF HE IS FOLLOWING YOU, and that is why his run must be on so he
doesn't notice it too fast)
By the time he notices, he should be inside the red portal about 5-6 steps away from the safe zone.
Your partner should be barraging him as soon as he sees him (coming from North)
You could do this method solo or with a partner if your combat is too low (it's best if it's with a partner, so your victim won't
expect that you're trying to kill him (if you're in ahrims or something))
Now, your question might be:
Q: Why can't I just make him follow me inside?
A: No one will want to follow you inside to a danger zone... they'll just run away immediately, with the dyes he won't notice that he's ran in
until about 3-5 seconds (which you should already be killing him)
