I see untrue things spread around the internet on the regular basis, even more so now with people sharing things on Facebook. The thing is, many people will believe this stuff without a second thought.

So that leads me to this question:

What is the dumbest thing you have ever seen on the internet? Were people falling for it?

Probably the dumbest thing I've seen and can remember was a while ago in an old Marlboro commercial. I was looking for old commercials for a project and, as usual, I read the top comments.
There was this dude saying "I've been smoking since I'm 11, I'm still good and doing well." then a reply was something like "smoking hurts your lungs". Then the idiot came in saying "smoking makes your lungs stronger. You're breathing heavier air, therefore you're forcing your lungs to do excercise and you're making them stronger.", something between those lines.

Found it:

Hah, I can't tell if he is completely serious and thinks that is true or if he is just lying to himself and others so he feels better about his bad habit.

Here is one I saw today:

And last week I saw one about Atlantis being found during the Cold War in the Bermuda Triangle. lol.

EDIT: Here is a link for something similar to what I saw on Facebook about Atlantis being found. It isn't exactly the same but it is close. http://beforeitsnews.com/science-an...xes-pyramids-in-bermuda-triangle-2475944.html

I told someone that the more times you trade someone in RS, the more likely they'll give you free stuff.

Probably the.... 'each like will donate $1 to this charity' or other shit along those lines.

I heard a story about @Carbon knowing what a template engine is and actually knowing how to web dev. Liars!!

That's big coming from a "web dev" who needs help picking out a new laptop.

The definition of hot, sexy, single, and "me" are vague.

"Web devs" don't make laptops. =p

But in all seriousness, perhaps he just wanted to create a thread for activity purposes.
