also, how much was surgery and how long was it until you could do anything?
RAF said:Surgery was free (Medicare) I think. It was a few days, you'll be back up and running in 3/4 days.

Yes it's a serious answer. There's not a great deal to elaborate on. Use the combination of tweezers and a needle, such as one of those small splinter picking needles, whatever they're called, to lift the nail up and use the tweezers to pull it out. The nail is likely to keep slipping when you go to lift it up, that's where the time + patience comes in. It'll take a bit to get the tweezers/needle, whichever you use, in on the right angle to be able to lift it with enough pressure to be pushed passed the skin.Famous™ said:Is that a serious answer? if so elaborate.
That's because you got it cut out. Key word there.RAF said:For me, tapping it sent jolts of excruciating pain. I lost so much blood when the doctor cut it, thank God for quick clotting.
They do. I did it myself. Mine was perhaps worse then everyone on this thread. The edge of my nail (on my big toe) had grown that much that it had nearly managed to poke its way through the skin at the tip.RAF said:Infected toenails don't work like that, trust me, I tried. Unless you have the pain tolerance of Iron Man, don't touch your toe.

It hurts to some extent but meh. Depends on the individual.
You could also try getting a small pair of scissors, like the ones you get in a manicure set, and cut the base of it and try pulling it out that way. Feels beautiful when it comes out.
Do that and in a few days you'll be fine.

If you can't grasp the concept, go to a doctor.

Storm said:Again, 'cut' out. You make it sound like he took your entire nail out :|
RAF said:Take the surgery, it's a godsend. I had it removed last year, let's just say it felt amazing afterwards.
