Indent in html textbox?

When I click "TAB" on my PC in a post/thread is just skips to the next form/element/not sure, never coded html but when I press it in a desktop editor (Notepad/shit) it makes a indent character:


Is there anyway to do:

If active element = textbox and user pressed "TAB" send: " "

Else

Send "Next element"

Using chrome.

It happens with all other browsers and I haven't found a fix for it.
