I just wanted to state the obvious. Will things ever change? No.
I'm not hating on the youngsters who reside here, not at all.
In fact, I am sure I am friends with some and if that's the case you guys are alright in my book.
I joined RuneGear in Feburary, 2011. Why? It was a cool place to waste time with interesting members, information, and topics to discuss.
I didn't join mainly for RuneScape. I joined to hopefully make some good friendships, to see what I could pass a long to others, and what I could soak in.
Because we all have something in common, we all play video games.
Why can't we use that common basis to just GET ALONG. What does it prove when you're rude to someone online, with the meager use of words you just typed on a keyboard?
When you press "submit" what are the repercussions of your actions?
Do you feel all big and bad? Feel like a hard ass?
Grow that E-penis, see how far it takes you.
This used to be a place where you could post a thread and expect some friendly people to hop in and drop their two cents, and then carry on with your day knowing there is a community on RG waiting to help you, talk to you, or just have some fun with you.

Now I worry when posting a thread, that some negative Nancy is going to come waltzing in and be a dick. Trying to prove something which impacts no one in anyway, except proving to others what kind of person they really are.

I just had to get some things off my chest.

I want to add something more as well. I would edit the thread and include this but I'm on my phone right now and it's being difficult.

Look, guys. We are all human here.
We all enjoy RuneGear right?
We each have our own reasons for visiting this site.
Lets make this a great place for everyone to have a good time on here.
Why should contradictions amongst our beliefs inhibit one another from enjoying this place?

The point I'm trying to make is this;
You will succeed more in every little thing that you do through being reasonable and understanding, not name calling and insulting.

That being said though, never let anyone walk on you.

I'm done ranting.
If anyone needs help with anything, I'm here to help as much as I can.
Or if you just want someone to shoot the shit with, hit me up.
 
I love your posts, but I disagree with one thing. I don't want things to change, they're not as bad as everyone is making it, only a few bad bunch but that's expected and not always negative. The fact that we're fighting is because we're growing extremely. Our activity has taken a leap, almost 3x that of a month ago. We're nearly at 210 members on /day instead of 97. We're growing, our daily hits are growing and I'm hoping it won't stop. We're serving so many pages daily it's showing the impact this forum has, and so many members are joining from Google that we're getting a bunch of new characters. All in all, RG is changing for the better. Sooner or later we'll be getting 1k posts /day again.
 
Were not growing, there's just more 0 posters and spam bots.

There's never been a this low amount of actual posters ever, and change is always for the better.

Without change were going to get left behind.

I do agree with you OP, if people can't handle the heat they should just stay out of the kitchen.

The influx of new members has been mainly people who want free things.
We need more people who are involved in active discussion, not people who want to mooch.

Give and you shall receive.

The youngsters of RG should put down the keyboard swords! And with them I will as well.

I just like seeing reactions of people getting pissed over the internet, no e-penis sexual pleasure like you described doe .
 

Once again Carbon, you're wrong. There definitely has been an influx of new members, but many actually do post. That's with every forum, not with RG. Many register and leave, and then there's a specific amount of people that do post after registration.

You are in no position to state anything regarding the statistics and happenings on RG except from a members point of view, and when you do so, nothing you say can be set in stone. I have access to the statistics, I have access to the logs of posts, I'm the one who sees the growth, not you. How can you say otherwise?

Change? What change do you want? Are you oblivious to this growth. I'm sorry all the attention can't be plastered on the veterans as it used to be, but get with the times. Newer members, means newer opportunities.

This is a community, since when didn't communities fight?
 
We may have immature members.. but it's actually the most grown up forum I've been apart of, almost every other forum has 50% troll threads, we don't have many at all.
