So I am selling my subwoofers today for $250 losing $50 but fuck it I need the money.

Anyway, I was thinking of upgrading my ram to 8gb of RAM. That would make my PC run a lot smoother than 1.5 GB right?
 
Yes but a key role in performance also lies in your CPU.
 
Lots of RAM is only good if your CPU is fast as well (They work together).

A 3.00+ GHz CPU + 8GB of RAM will make your PC blazing fast.
 


 
No, 8GB is somewhat overkill. Plus, check your PC under "My Computer", to see if it can even hold 8GB RAM. All you should need is 6GB max. Unless ofcourse, you want to play two games on the highest settings at the same time.

EC. Skyrim Ultra and Battlefield 3 on high.
 
Might want to upgrade your ram to 4GB and save the rest for a new CPU yours isn't that good
 
Upgrading your amount of RAM won't make much of a difference with that processor.

For that CPU, 4Gigs is plenty fine for an upgrade, but for the record - 8GB of RAM Is not overkill, anything over 8 is overkill.
 
For a gaming computer all you need is 4GB ram mate, no need to go overboard and blow cash.


If you need a case, find one they aren't expensive and start building.

Well my Motherboard won't take anything over 2 gb anyway, I need to really upgrade my computer.
Only have $280 though.
 
If I was you, I would save up for a gaming rig.

$600 can you get a pretty decent gaming rig

@mike, 4GB isn't that enough nowdays. Most applications like BF3 are very memory hungry.

Also to people saying 8GB is overkill. It entirely depends on what your needs are. If he was to be rendering. 8GB is not an overkill. beside 8GB DDR3 RAM is fairly cheap nowadays.
 

I'm not going to be doing that. I had a gaming rig, a very nice one. But I sold it.
I am leaving for basic training October 23rd so no point in buying something so expensive for only 1 1/2 month to enjoy it. Was just looking into upgrading this piece of shit in the mean time.
