How to get onto Youtube at School

My friend and I were trying to get past the school internet website filter by doing random things because we needed to get a video from youtube for our project.

My friend made and error by typing https instead of http at the start of the URL, and it let him pass.

I'm not sure if this works at your school, but it works great at mine and I'm in a highschool that's linked with a public library (which tend to have prestige security).

Yeah, it means its a secure connection. A lot of websites don't have this though.

Very true, but please note the title of the thread

Some websites do work with this, you just have to test.
 
My school blocked the https YouTube and facebook, fuckers!

Is CMD blocked too? If it isnt open it up and ping the website you want. log the IP then try going to it through the IP
 
My school didny block cmd, but I used it to ping the sites, now they do

Same here, and we just use the https link to get on Facebook. =)
You can't play any games while on the encrypted connection link, though, and when you switch back to http, you get blocked. =/


Our school unblocked in on purpose because a few of the teachers complained their asses off, because they said that Youtube can be a very valuable tool for teaching.
They have a point, honestly.
 


Yeah. The best fix for that is to use a proxy instead.
 


Yep, I thought it was time to create a proxy site, I got fed up with unplugging the ethernet cable and playing flash games, so ta-da. =)

Start in-private browser = AUTO WIN.

Allowed to go to any site in my school.

Just using a proxy is a much more viable option because it works 100% for all sites...
my favourite one is bypass.secure.la

Yes but the point is that there are no requirements to use this method. With a proxy, it's a lot harder to find one that isn't blocked.
