No you're right "hip-hop" in it's true form is dead. It died a while ago.
What these kids are brainwashed by nowadays is not "hip-hop" it's money. The industry is creating songs that you will play over and over at clubs and parties. It's all about the beat and no lyrical content.
Back in then 90s DMX had a quote which read, "Fuck a beat, listen to the words in the damn song." Hip hop was created as a form of expression and to spread positive vibes for a good cause. It's poetry. They didnt care about money, because back then it really wasn't that big of an industry. We are so far gone that you will never know what true hip hop was. I was lucky enough to catch the end of it in the 90s.
