Don't post on my thread shitting on me, (oh you shouldn't download music/movies ect just save the bullshit for your self amusement).

I recently recieved an email from my ISP (Charter) telling my that they are making me pay for a movie that I downloaded from the pirate bay. They are claiming that if i do not play $250 by March 4th, I can have a lawsuit on my hands. Again, the email was from my ISP. If i do not pay will they contact my ISP to get my information do you think?

This is what they have in the Email.

Interesting, I never heardaboutsomethinglike thishappening

that site is bullshit but thats a really good one.

I ignore all law e-mails. Them fuckers can come to my hood, and bust down my front door. Unless they get scared then turn the fuck around.

What was the exact Email address that sent you this? Because I know websites where you can spoof an email address to say anything you want at the end, for example @comcast, @customerservice anything like that and they 100% get delivered to your inbox. This is most likely fake though seeing as the fact someone wouldn't sue you over $250 and also if you were being sued for copy right claim it would be a lot more. Don't you see the warnings at the beginning of movies? its like 250,000 not $250 lol.

I have never heard of an ISP asking a customer paying $250 for a copyright claim. I would call your ISP to confirm or check the email address because it might be a scam.

they usually warn you. This bullshit, nice bullshit, but its bullshit. whoever created this is a genius to say the least.

Contact your ISP just to be sure, ask them if they sent you the email.

More than likely fake.

@xSlatzy The email address is abuse@charter.net idk it is a huge fucking e-mail though, it has my IP and shit, but ill call them tomorrow and see if they sent me that e-mail.

I'm sorry to say, but I believe it's possible to be true. You should call your ISP to check in with emails that have been sent out regarding your account. My girlfriend received a warning in the mail for this, but then again she has a different provider.

They most likely didn't man. LOL Don't call your ISP because then you are going to have to explain to them. They didn't send you this email I know that for a fact. This is just an internet scam. And its not that hard to get someones IP so don't worry about them having it.

This is a scam your isp doesn't make you pay for illegally downloaded music/music etc...they just warn you then turn off your service.

A solution to not getting caught is to not seed anything because that is how they catch people.

This. Downloading isn't illegal but seeding is.
