Graphics Help!!

Whenever I use the Gradient Tool, it covers everything.. I want it to cover the background and not my Render Image also.

Option 1: Create a new layer and place it above your background, and below your render.

Option 2: Go into your background's blending settings and create a "gradient overlay." You can do this by simply double clicking the background layer.

Option 3: Select the inverse of your render's pixel range, then use the gradient tool on any layer.
