So i tried my hand at making one..

You probably shouldn't be looking in a future of graphic design lol. Inner shadows are overrated and a lot of ams think it looks cool.

You should google some tutorials on Google before you continue!

I hope I didn't come off rude. If I did I'm sorry. I just speak really bluntly. If you watch any anime I'm more like a tsundere character than anything.

But anywhoo. I wasn't telling you to quit gfx, just look up some tutorials on Google about graphic design. You'll learn lots if you keep at it.

In my own opinion the banner should stand out and be more of a focal, as it's representing the site. Although it's simple, and I love simplistic designs, it just doesn't brand the site well with the current color theme.

I'm glad it's not some over the top C4D crap though, I like what you were going for!
