Gamertag change

Well I had a private gamertag I just swapped and it didn't let me claim it for about 30 minutes and I contacted Xbox about it and they were saying you couldn't reycle gamertags and shit but I just claimed it so yeah has this ever happened to anybody else ? And if so why does it happen
 
Yes this is when it goes into limbo, it is a regular thing.

Can you explain what limbo is? Is it something with MS employees

@kyle @rude @trilogy can explain this better than i can but basically the tag is nonexistant for about 30 minutes then you can take it but sometimes it doesn't come out of limbo and sometimes when it does it gets caplocked or you get turboed for it
 
Sometimes the tag goes into a state where nobody can claim it, this normally lasts for about 30 minutes. Nobody knows exactly why this happens, but my theory is that Major Nelson holds it in limbo while he plays limbo music and laughs.

This happened to me for the gamertag 'illegal' and it got turbo'd from me. You're lucky you didn't lose.
 
never happened to me because I'm a god and major Nelson loves me but what happens is he plays the Yankee mambo #5 on your modem and it makes your tag non existent for 30 minutes to 100 years

I was getting mad it didn't work the first time ever I try to swap something and it doesn't work
 
So it's on random tags? That is seruously dumb. Will it happen on 2 letters a lot or have no idea?
