How much defense experience do you have?
You may be able to get 20 defense with Nature spirit and get rune gloves, then go initiate pure. (You will need Nature Spirit done to get rune gloves.)
20 defense starts at 4,470 xp and 21 defense starts at 5,018 xp.
Nature spirit = 2k xp
so 2k + your current defense XP should be in between 4,470 and 5,018.
So long as it is, you're gravy.
