I've been talking to quite a few veterans lately, still not sure if i'm considered a veteran yet but their is one thing all the 'old fags' can agree on: 99.9999999999999999999% of the new members must have been dropped on their heads when birth was given to them on prom night by their infidel parents.
I actually caught up with the vet. 'Acrocide'. I'm sure many of you older members know who Acrocide is, @Kill , @Loyal , @Supra , @Sniper, @Dreams , @Doctor , and Kevin (forgot @) are just some of the members i remember from a long time ago and i'm sure they all remember Acrocide. Me and Acrocide talked about how the site has changed for the better and for worst and one of the topics we talked about was rep whores. Post whoring isn't even really a concern anymore like how it was when @Crush was doing it, now it's rep whoring. Now i'm not gonna lie, I repwhored at one time, and @Cann!bal and i had over 1600+ rep before ours got reset, then i stopped (not sure if he did). When i first joined, you wouldn't get upgraded until being here about a month and rep was most definitely what determined if you were legit or not. Turboers weren't even around, although in July of 2012 a certain member (I'm mature enough to not @ him) turbo'd the gamertag 'Kittens' from another member (i think it was the member with the pic of a girl with teased black hair and jack daniels in one hand). Scammers were rare as well, the only 2 known scammers were @Afro and @Lard.
Ah the good old days, i remember i got the aim Lard off of Afro in 2012 who got it off of cuff, and everyone thought i was Cuff and was accusing me of scamming. Not only did people think i was a scammer, but i actually thought 3 letters were OG and i flamed teh faq out of people when i first joined because i thought i knew everything. Back in those days i never thought i would have a real OG either, but when i got my first one it was surreal. Now kids are spending their christmas + birthday + easter (who tf gets easter money) + Kwanzaa money on tags just to have them get b&'d or turbo'd (IE. g * and B*** situation) then they just charge back 9329374 bazillion dollars on someones paypal (Hey look, autocorrect recognizes bazillion, don't know what to say) and then they get fucked. I think Philly has experienced the most chargebacks tbh.
Back in June 2012 the Quad era was starting. Phenom and Phantom were moderators and Christy and Quad were staff. Their were only 5 on the administration team (If you can't guess who the 5th is leave the site pl0x) and everything was done fine and on time. NOT because the site only had 7583 members, but due to the fact that the quality of staff was far greater than the quantity. I tried explaining this to a newer member and he insisted more = better when that's not the case. Quad and I became close real fast, then the unthinkable happened. That little kneegrow in a giveaway for a tag i don't even recall swapped my number which happened to be 4 and was the winner, for his, which his signature number was 4 (if you can't figure that out too you should probably get your head examined or get a parents signature so you can legally be on this site). I opened a scam report and Quad closed it and he said "I'm pulling a @Christy". What he meant by that was Christy had scammed Quad before he was staff and when Quad made a scam report, she closed it on him and because she was staff and he was not, it was her word against his.
Sitting here in 2014 2 months before my 2 year shows up, i wonder to myself: "Where has everyone gone". Well that's the million dollar question. And i think after you get nigr'd enough times you give up and quit. Most of the older users have quit, got scammed and quit or banned. I am one of the only members from way back in the day who has never even been temp banned and the only warning i ever got was when Christy gave me a "begging warning" when i made a thread in the requests and asked for a 2 day trial code, obviously Quad revoked it cause that's the biggest bs warning in the world.
This is what the site looked like when i joined:
Now for a lot of you older members i'm sure this brings back memories. @Crimson was top GFX'er on the site and also owned his own GFX group and @Fruf joined and was pretty sick at GFX as well. Sean Taylor owned the "Legend" group and it had wings next to the username. Their was 3 upgrades, Donator (Green), Onyx (Stealth Black), and Power (Pink). Doctor (and dreams?) owned the "SWAG" group which i think has been the sickest group ever on FK still to this day, we still had the "Ex-Staff" group which was a bright red color. Unfortunately removed due to @Philly saying that "Being ex staff is reward enough". Quad owned the "Elite" usergroup, only the best of the best were accepted and believe me, he didn't just let 'anyone' in. More usergroups were Donator, Onyx, Power, Modders, News Crew, GFX Masters, Damned, Spartans, Admin, Staff, Legion, Guardians, and a few more that summer. Their was easily 15 user groups and that created so much diversity on the site even with such a small community. A few months ago Mosquito messaged me on aim and said "I will always be his little 'Hat'". That brought back so many memories.
Here are some moar pics of what the site looked like back in the day:
And for the big cheeeeeze:
Obviously the days where spaced 2 letter gamertags were 20$, we could post our tags we are selling publically, and give out our gamertags publically without getting GG'd will never return, but we can make it like that again, we just have to get all the members on board. If i could i would chose the old FK over the new FK anyday.
