Why is this a thing?
How many of you actually use it? How many friends are on your buddy list?
What do you benefit from adding someone on your buddy list?
I get random requests all the time, and just now realized I had to accept everyone, but.. now what?

At one point I used it so I could easily tag all of my friends, for milestones and whatnot.

Why not?

I do not use it personally, so none. I think it is a waste of time, or so I tell myself in an effort to compensate for my lack of buddies.

You get the subtle joy of being someone's buddy. . .on a forum. What more could you honestly ask for?

I firmly believe the last question was an attempt to flaunt your popularity to make me jealous. It worked, mama.
 
It just comes with MyBB. So it's just there. I never have used it. If it actually had more of a purpose, I likely would use it but as it sits right now it is just a basic core feature of MyBB. Maybe I should just go add people to mine, so it's not empty. I feel like an online loser with no friends now.

Was simply asking about it. I remember when "Hackernation" was a thing, We used the buddy list feature for the forum Chat / shoutbox.
It popped out as it's own list and was just easy to tell when your friends were online instead of looking through the list of "who's online"
I didn't know the buddylist feature was just like an automatic with mybb.

I guess that explains the automated private messages x.x
