Directed towards those who like flying.

What do you actually enjoy about flying? How does the thouhgt of falling not scare you? What do you like about being high in the sky, despite the fact that humans historically have spent most of their time on the gound?

When your in the air you have so little control you cannot just pull over to the side of the road if there's a problem. Does this matter to you?

Also, for those in kit planes, how do you manage the possiblity that if you overspeed the wings could fall off and u go into a deadly dive?

There is not much that you can enjoy about flying, you're in an enclosed space, with not much room to move around. I do not hate flying, it is just a boring experience.

How does the thought of falling not scare you?

After all the flights that there have been, how many do you think have just 'fallen' from the sky? That's right, none.

As I said before, there is not much to like, it is faster than going in a car/coach etc, still takes quite a long time depending on where you're going. Humans spending most time on the ground... hmmm. Where else are we going to be?

I think for most, it's the call of freedom, to fly high in the sky where no one can get to you or bother you. If you pull over to the side of the road, people can still be around, when you're flying, no one is around.

If you mean like in an airplane...
I don't think a lot of people really 'like' flying in an airplane, but it beats traveling by sea/land.

Historically humans have spent most time traveling by walking though we now have new inventions such as cars and trains &etc. When you are in high speed you also are in very little control and the fact that on a percentage-scale more deaths have occurred by cars than airplanes should convince you that it is of no greater danger than you face everyday. The problem is that you are not used to it but welcome to 2011. If you ask for my personal opinion I would prefer traveling by bus as it gives me time to think. I have chosen to ride the bus for more than three days straight over a two hour plane ride several times just because of that and that I get to see and experience the nature and surrounding in the different places I go. If you want me to explain a plane ride it is like sitting in front of your computer without the computer.
