Yes they map your network and send abilitary visual basic virus v1 down your dial up which will encrypt your gibsons hdd in aes 256.
 
I'm not very good at this stuff. But I am pretty sure you cannot be hacked just from someone knowing you IP address. If you could then almost anyone could hack you considering website owners can see your IP when you are on their website.
