Downgrading Windows 7 to Windows XP

Hey,

I've decided to downgrade my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 7. The main reason for this is because:

A) Windows 7 doesn't offer anything extra special that I need.
B) I prefer Windows XP overall.
C) Performance will be better, even though Windows 7 runs perfectly fine without lag.

Do you think I'm stupid for doing this?
 
Btw you said you are downgrading from 7 to.7 :p

Well I have 7 for gaming and ubuntu for coding and working
 
Xp is faster 7 is more stable...

Depends on the reason why you've downgraded.
 
noreturn, name ONE feature that you use on Windows 7 that you couldn't on XP.
 
I also downgraded my old laptop from 7 to XP.

I wasn't surprised that XP was faster than 7. Windows 7 is exactly (well most of it) like Vista just a visual change.
 
Not really stupid, still prefer XP here over 7 or Vista lol.

I use 7 on this laptop though just because my mum sometimes borrows and she just ._. can relate with the 7 one.

"Show desktop" button in the bottom-right corner,
Peek at desktop/windows,
Tab Pinning,
Audio level access for individual open programs,
Search in start menu,
Revolving backgrounds,
...,

Sure, a few of those features could be added to XP with some third-party software, but what would be the point in that? You wouldn't mod IE4 just to make it do exactly what IE9 does.

I could code ALL of those features you mentioned and make them work on Win XP, or you could find some already made for XP.

Good for you? Why re-invent the features on an outdated operating system when they've already been implemented?

And I highly doubt you could code those features without googling on where to even start.

He is right... Btw jeter you say on your cyberhacker.org signature that you are learning how to code and you can code alredy all that? Doubt it...
 
Anonymous, them features are all good and well, but the majority of users wouldn't use them, I for one couldn't care less about revolving backgrounds, show desktop, pinning icons, sure they're not in Windows XP, but XP can be made to perform similar with a few tweeks, i.e pinning icons, quick launch, show desktop, again a quick launch option.

The quick launch toolbar can be added to 7, and it's much easier to throw the mouse in the bottom corner to return to the desktop than trying to aim for he quick launch bar.

Another useful feature is split windows (dragging a window to the side of the screen to make it fill one half).
Split windows may not be something everybody needs every second of the day, but those features are there for when you do need them.

Practical examples:
- Comparing two items on a shopping website without having to switch between tabs.
- Browsing the web while keeping an eye on installing software.

Also, the last example reminded me of another feature: progress bar shown in toolbar for installing items (I say items because the progress bar can also be used by developers to show the progress of an update or the status of downloading files.)

I have windows 7 to but i am thinking of changing to linix ubuntu 10.04.2

Linux/Ubuntu is a lot more secure than Windows, it's for the more techical skilled person, it's more advanced.

If you want to try it for a short while without installing it completely just yet, you can search for Knoppix. Just burn it on a cd/dvd and just boot from it when starting up your computer.
