Your rep won't increase if you don't read threads. The thread was referring to his post count, not his rep.
 
I'm actually catching up to Mike in terms of weekly/monthly posts. Obviously his overall posts will be much higher than mine because he has been here much longer than me.
 
Post count doesn't mean anything, imo. It just shows that you've been active on the forum for a decent amount of time, no more no less.

Just though it was funny that this came to my mind.
