Cool Suggestion (May Help Out Site)

I think we should hold a Debate kind of like the 'Presidential Debate' but for Mod or Staff or Starting a new group on FK. If someone wants to become Mod, But people don't want him to or something, Or messages Philly saying don't make such & such a Mod or Staff, We should then hold a Debate. If majority of votes are Yes then that person will become Mod or Staff, But you can't just say Yes or say Yes because he is cool, You have to give a legit reason, Like for example, "I think this user should become Mod because he knows what hes doing, If he becomes Mod he will help out the site greatly".

Philly is our absolute ruler and he makes his decisions based on what he feels is right ....

I don't like this idea. At the end, it is Philly's decision. If he feels they would help out and are capable of being Mod/Staff it doesn't matter what others think.
Someone could say no just because they don't like that certain user and make up a story of why they shouldn't be mod/staff.

Sorry to say that I completely disagree.
If we were to do it this way, anyone and everyone with friends on this site would be Moderator, even if they didn't know what they were doing.
Same for those who deserve it, one person could give a valid reason why they don't deserve is, versus the other 100 reasons why they do.
It's just not how things should be ran on a forum site.
