Activision says that MW3 will receive "constant" updates in the future. Activision's CEO Eric Hirshberg said that, "The game will continue to grow and evolve thanks to frequent support.", "The idea of giving people constant incremental playable content and making it so you're never more than a few weeks away from the next new experience within the Call of Duty universe is part of what we're experimenting with," Hirshberg told Wired.
This comes after the game earned over one billion dollars during its first sixteen days on sale. According to Hirshberg, that kind of success means Modern Warfare 3 needs to be treated differently than other franchises in terms of continued content.
"This franchise doesn't really behave like most franchises," he said. "It's become something of a year-round activity for a large percentage of our player population."
