Confederate flag "racism"


They don't, they want to apparently get one over thanks to Obama and all this racial war shit being started.
And they should, which is why America is accountable for slavery not just the south. One part of the U.S. encouraged it more than the other, but they both had a hand in it.
Everyone just wants to have someone to blame.
 

I agree, removing the flag won't stop racism and I never believed it would. People are just attacking it to make it seem like America isn't 'racist' anymore.
 
I'm sitting here shaking my head at some of the downright ignorant crap I'm reading here such as suggestions that the flag should be outlawed, and that it represented the confederacy.

1) It was a battle flag. It did not represent the south specifically.
2) It was flown by various troops both in the north and the south.
3) It wasn't so much the emancipation of slaves that concerned the South, but rather the fact that if Lincoln were to free the slaves, it would be denying the states their rights.

In order to fully understand the reasoning of the South, you have to step into their shoes. Back then the US was thought of much as we think of the UN, a group of nations (or states) that were united. So if several leading nations in the UN were to tell us to do something that we thought was infringing on our rights, what would we do?

To say that the flag should be outlawed is incredibly ignorant and disrespectful to ALL Americans, not just those who want to keep the flag of their heritage. Here in the US we have the 1st amendment right to free speech, which by design protects us from gross censorship like that.

Also, plenty of the countries most prominent slave plantations existed in the north.

But the moral of the story is this... If you are offended by the flag, then ignore it. Don't shop where it's sold, don't look when it's flying. It's called being an adult. There are plenty of people who don't want to see people sagging, so they just ignore it. You do NOT have a right to "not be offended".
 
Funny, you fail to acknowledge the fact that at least 99% of those who fly this flag are ignorant white trash spawned from years upon years of inbreeding between cousins. The points you make are useless. Go talk to the ignorant fucks you find flying this flag, not us; you'll drop your point and come to realize why I don't care.

I have read many posts regarding this. I am sorry but this infringes upon our first amendment rights. Whether it is racist or not, I have every right to say and feel how I wish. I am not racist, I do not wave the confederate flag, and I have no interest in doing it. It isn't the fact that they are taking down the flag, rather the principle that they are walking all over our freedoms and rights as Americans. People got shot, I get it. It was undoubtedly an act of racism. I recognize that, but taking down the flag is simply unlawful. Taking down the flag is profusely crossing boundaries that they should not be doing.
 

Please note that the issue is over removing the flag from the State House grounds, no one is trying to make the flag illegal in all forms. Removing the flag from the State House is not a violation of any amendment because no one is forcibly removing it, there is simply a vote that needs to be conducted by elected officials to remove it.
 

I recognize that. But think about this, once they make one step they are immediately going to attempt to put the flag as an illegal form anywhere in the country.  Removing it from the State House is completely perfect, but I believe that they will take this many steps further.
 

Slippery slope argument, but I see where you're coming from. I can assure your our courts will never allow the flag to be outlawed.
 
That feel when you live in the south and have seen tons of black people wearing shirts with confederate flags on them.
 


There are many veterans I know that have one outside their house. Not once have any of them said anything racist. I live in the south, and can say that a fraction of the people, all young KIDS, are actually racist and view it as so.

And Obama, fixing something? Lol you made a funny.

He has done irrelevant things. None of that matters.
The economy is at an all time low, we are on the brink of war, and all we care about is fucking racism and gay marriage. Obama hasn't done shit for the well being of the nation.
Could have been working on debt and issues with the middle east/Russia instead of encouraging gay marriage. That's something unimportant that can wait until our country can actually function without being every other countries bitch.

But I digress, this is fully separate debate that I may start later. For now let's stick to the main topic.
 
The US flag flew over slave states for ~90 years. Should we ban it?

Honestly Obama is cancer to society and has in no way, shape, or form helped this country out in the slightest. All he has done is tore us apart. He takes out our soldiers, and lets fucking ISIS grow at a massive rate and doesn't want to do shit about it. Did you know all US Troops are supposed to be pulled from Afghanistan in 2016? GG HOLD THE RE AMERICA.

We are on the brink of a fucking war like @Plague said. Instead of fighting ISIS, we let them terrorize other continents and countries. This shit is ridiculous. We are in so much DEBT to fucking China and it's got worse since Obama has been president.

Here's just a few things Obama has fucked up on.

The number of Americans on welfare has hit record highs.
Because of Obama’s policies since he became President, 11,472,000 Americans have left the work force.
The almost 11 million Americans getting disability payments is now approaching the population of Cuba
A record 20% of Americans were on food stamps in 2013.
Our nation lost its AAA credit rating because Obama is spending so much money.
Obama has helped drive up the cost of gas by blocking the Keystone Pipeline.

Want me to go on? Cause I can.
 
The middle east can sort themselves out, that is what happens when advanced countries intervene with developing countries. Also the middle east has been in state of turmoil since empires started being founded.

And opposing gay marriage is the same as opposing blacks or any other minority.

I have no problem with gay people. But it's far less important than the real world that's going on. Congratulations gay people can get married! But America is still a shithole!
That's no reason to celebrate.
