In many countries lobsters are boiled alive, rats are "tortured" when they get stuck in those glue traps and starve to death.
While I don't agree with eating dogs, cats, etc,. That is just how it is, not everyone has the same believes.

Show me the statistics of the dogs that are tortured compared to the ones that are killed in a "humane" way. Also not all are stolen, many are raised for the festival so it is not different than a farmer raising cattle or chicken for consumption.

We have one of the highest rates of police murders (USA) in the world but it is way safer here than in parts of the Middle East/Africa.

3rd world doesn't really factor into the debate. Russia, China, Japan, Australia, UK, etc... All have better economies that the US, it's ass. There is nothing that will ever change that, sure we have the biggest stick, but look what we have to sacrifice to get it. A large portion of our nation is in poverty and bad off, yet we want to help these 3rd world countries because we love the publicity and want to look like the good guys.

I can't really comment on the first part because I've never really looked at how other countries' economies compare to our's, but I agree that our economy isn't the best and there is a huge need for reform.

Iraq and Vietnam are great examples of our retarded leadership sacrificing soldiers for no reason, well for Iraq they did benefit from those oil deals and private corporation contracts.

the mainland chinese are used to this, much like how americans/most countries are used to eating poultry, beef, etc. To them its just like killing some cows. Its not like dogs are better than cows, every life has the same value.

Also, people need to understand that these are basically the more underdeveloped parts of China, most chinese people do not eat dogs or cats.

Also, signing a petition online won't do shit, it's not like the Chinese government is going to change just because people tell them to.
