Ive never really botted before, thought I would check it out. Currently I am running EpicBot and I am just killing chickens.

What are the odds of getting some sort of consequence? How long should I run it?

Jagex only cares about LRC, sorc garden, red chomps, and drags, stay away from it = no ban.
 
I would recommend you to bot with a paid botclient. An example is http://www.rsbots.net or http://www.carbonbots.com. Instead of EpicBot I would use RSBuddy (free). If you wanna be safe, you could run the bot for like 10 hours a day. But with breaks.
