In my opinion there is nothing wrong in keeping money in our bank account, but don't keep a big amount there, it may give some unwanted problem. If you have a big amount in your bank balance, you may open a fixed deposit account using your balance and keep the money safe.
We must be very careful while withdrawing our money from the ATM center. Now a days criminals having lot of tactic to stole our money, recently i heard that one person in my area lost around 25 dollars with a stranger while withdrawing it from ATM. The stranger move with him like very friendly, he believes that he is good and allow him while withdrawing money, after the person collected the cash, the stranger took money from him and ran away, so don't talk with any stranger while withdrawing your money from a ATM center. Be careful.
