Can i do this ?

Okay around 1 year ago my laptop broke and i kept the HDD.

Can i put it in this Laptop atm and transfer the C:// data on to a USB then go back to this Current HDD

Old HH Sata Windows Vista
New HD Sata Windows 8

I'm pretty sure C:// contains the OS, so you will need quite a big USB to fit it all if it did work. But I believe you can transfer the data though.

Transfer it all through disks. as Zeus said, I am sure it contains the OS and not all hard-drives will fit.

Why would you want to keep Vista? Just get all your documents off it and use it as a spare hard drive.
