Probably in the hope that one day they get unbanned or that there will be an unban method.

Yea, I think a lot of people are thinking that by the release of the Xbox One they will unban these tags. That would be pretty cool Imo.

It won't happen. Sorry to burst your guys' bubbles. Just because it's a new system does not mean that they are using a different systems that withholds all of our GamerTags. The console itself is new, improved, and has up to 3 different operating systems on it, but nevertheless, all you are doing is recovering your GamerTag onto the new console.

Think about that as well for the people who only want one console on your account. If you are that type of person, you will have to create a new tag on the Xbox One platform then swap your OG's onto it.

I think what people are actually hoping for is that there will be some glitch or something when transferring profiles that will unban your account for a short amount of time in order to swap.

Similar to the old swapping method where you changed your region or w/e.
