It seems this character is native american, as he is carrying a tomahawk, bow, arrows, knife, and old flintlock pistol all adorned with feathers (native americans used feathers on their clothes and weapons to represent spirit). The game is supposedly set during the american revolution (notice the flag). Ubisoft said a big announcement is coming Monday, so we'll have to wait till then.
