Are you comfortable to say you have online friends?

It's a common mis-conception online to call someone a nerd when one has "online friends". I'm not speaking about random online people you add on msn, I'm talking about when you consider them friends. For example, giving them your number. I'm not ashamed to say I have online "friends" as they've helped me just as real life ones has. For example, Spaz has my number and has text me random junk all the time. I remember once I was in a posh bar with my girlfriend (now my ex) and he text me asking if I was still into hacking activity's. The user "Donkor" aswell I'd label as a proper friend, we were actually planning on meeting up sometime when he came to the UK.

I've got a few online friends to be honest, I'm not ashamed at all. It's one of the things that annoy me about stereotypes, when one can not help be labeled when something in my opinion good has happened.

I have like 5 people I would call my online friends, I have met 3 of them and will meet the other two soon.

I say i have buddies online, but now-a-days if you say online friends people think of console gaming.

I don't mind. People think it's sad but they don't understand. Thus, I do not take their accusations personally. Well, only sometimes.

I am active on four forums and I can say that out of all the people I meet, I communicate with online there is only a handful I can officially say I'm friends with. 1 would be my co-found of our site, two would be a monetize I used to brainstorm with and three is a 40+ year old women who has given me her phone number ...no joke, we actually call each other once a week.

Why it could be a shame? Imo it's normal thing to meet someone on the internet and make friends. I have many online friends, from all kind of forums and from social networks as well. Tho we have never meet in our real life, but we're frineds online.

I have a few real friends that I meet online, one I meet in a MMORPG and we were playing all day long got classmates this year(First year on HighSchool) it's pretty amazing, we are now good friends and we talk about lots of stuff. Actually I've meet two people there that I met them IRL this year on the same High School. I've got other people to who I talk all day long but they don't got my phone number but they seen me already8online like picture..). I'm not ashamed at all, I really don't give a duck in real life about what people think about me, it's their problem, it's my life.
