[ARCHIVED] Vouches System Complete

The vouches system has been complete. I will be removing the Vouches forum soon so that the vouches system is mainly used, members can still give users vouches in posts, that's fine. I recommend the system used since it's much safer than using post vouches.

RG Elites can give 3 daily, and Sponsors may give 4. Normal members are limited to 1.

What is the difference between the reputation system and the vouch system? Most of the time, users indicate whether the user is trusted in their reputation comment anyways. What added benefit does this vouch system provide us that the reputation system can't?

Reputation is something to say your opinion about someone. For reputation you don't need to trade with them to make one.

Vouch is for when you trade with someone (selling, buying, etc). You can vouch in the system saying they are legit or not.

Yet reputation can be used to see if they are trustworthy, it isn't really supposed to be used in that way. The benefit is a more accurate show of how trustworthy they REALLY are.

If people can pass around reputation points little nothing, what makes you so sure that they won't fake deals or purposely fix trades in order to boost their vouch count? I'm not encouraging it but someone was definitely going to consider it sooner or later. This needs to be thought through a little more thoroughly.

Remember the last time the RG points were rigged with fake accounts and referrals or whatever it was? People always find a way to deviate from what is acceptable.

I can guarantee you that the vouch system won't make much of a difference. Why?

Take the reputation system as an example. When it was initially implemented, it was meant to serve as a means of expressing our opinion about another member. However, over time, members began to write things that had nothing to do with what it's purpose stood for.

Who's to say the same won't occur with this so-called vouch system?

1. This has got to be smallest grave I've ever seen if you consider this to be a gravedig.
2. I didn't grave-dig. I posted this comment a while ago, assuming I'd be replied to prompty. I'm sure TE has seen it, just as others have, but I had yet to be replied. So, I bumped my comment.

You seem to take great pleasure in taking shots at me. Choose your arguments wisely. I don't want this to get out of hand.

Only thing I can really think of to that one is because you have to supply a thread source of your trade to make a vouch. Thus, you can't really have the vouch system get out of control. (Maybe) XD.

I can contact you right now and tell you that we're going to organize a fake business proposition. I sell you something that you claim you received but never did. You feel me?

The system has potential but all I'm saying is it needs more thought. It needs to be finalized. And most especially, users shouldn't base all of their judgment on that vouch number beside someone's profile; it can be misleading. Next thing you know, someone has a feud with RG management because of a deal that went wrong based off rigged vouch comments. All this is avoidable if people learn how to exercise their own judgment and discretion for deals.

Yea I completely agree with you.

With the vouch system or no vouch system, there are still going to be people that find exploits or just fake vouch. Definitely would require more thought into it to make it more efficient and useful than it is now.

Only thing I see as it being useful is just a faster way to look at the person's vouches. Instead of the person having to link it in their signature, or the buyer having to look through the seller's threads to find their vouch thread, which isn't that great when you compare it to how much time was actually put into this. Definitely not worth the time for something that makes little impact.

No matter what, though, people should always know to trade with caution no matter how many vouches in the system or out of the system.
