Lately on Rune Gear, users have been abusing their freedom of speech. As members are aware if they've read the help documents, they would realise that all members have the freedom to speak up, complain maturely, and discuss what they want as long as it meets the forum rules. Users have seen this freedom to be their right, not something we've supplied for them, and therefore have abused this. We've had users spamming status updates, which cost me money and was placed in the forum for your enjoyment. Although that's not what users see it as, but instead as a way to blast obscene comments to others. We've had other users flaming and posting disrespectful, immature comments to members and members of Staff. This is stopping now.
On Rune Gear, Mike and I have been managing the forum for almost 2 years. We've been here when it lost activity, and at it's peak of activity. We haven't left, and we've been learning as we go. We know what's best for this forum, as we believe it is a part of us. We're on every day, we're here in the front of the forum, and in the back-end as well. We realise that with our recent, collaborative actions, Rune Gear is growing substantially, with hundreds of members logging in daily, and traffic doubling, and almost tripling now. This is why we believe spam and flame is our next enemy. We've addressed spam bots, we've addressed threats, but our biggest threat is ourselves.
As of today, I'm instructing Staff to warn all users who flame on this forum. The rule of "not flaming" is now being emphasised. Unless we address this issue, we can't move forward. Due to this, numerous members have been banned, including the demotion of a moderator. Staff are volunteers who want to enjoy this forum. They are not here to take crap, but instead enjoy the forum and ensure others enjoy it as well.
