Ok, so I have Avast! now, but it's free so I think it's currently limited to the features. Is there some way to get the full version/protection for free?

I use Microsoft security essentials. I had Avast on for a while and it did the basic.

Free AV is generally a bad idea. I suggest you get CCleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), buy and download a copy of MalwawreBytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/), and run full scan on MB.

No there you are wrong, it's a brilliant idea to use a free AV as you can add other security programs with them.

Like I would as your using Marvel Avast, I would add well Comodo Firewall as the Windows Firewall in Windows 7 isn't one I would use without support from a program and you could add Malwarebytes antimalware.

As for CCleaner, how can that protect him against malware?

That'd be for if he suspects he does have a virus and can't get it, correct?

I got the impression that he's asking if Avast is good and if it's "limited features" are bad.

Now that I re-read it, I have no idea why I said that. I feel like an idiot lol.
