A warning to all botters out there

This message was sent to me on April 7th 2011 by a fagex Moderator, I'm just helping fellow botters. I'm sure it won't be anything too big, but be cautious for the next two weeks while your botting.

Just a friendly warning.

A few things to reassure you all on:
Yes, there is a maxed player forum. You need 99 in every skill, 100+ Dung is not needed.
Yes, this was sent to, I believe, almost every maxed player in the game. I'm not sure on this, but it is likely.
This is a Maxed Player and fagex Mod bot hunt in which they will go to a few worlds in different bot hot spots and scout them out, and ban them or roll them back. These will last about an hour each day for about a week.

It was only a few forum users for a very little time, mods have been in on it since close to the beginning. It's not hard to follow the thread. If you have an account that you really care about, just get in on it, learn the times, and don't bot then.

Supposedly 12.4k accounts have been banned.

I'll go on some of their raids to see which hotspots they go to. I'm assuming BDK, SorcGarden, LRC, Fishing Guild, Ivy, Yews, etc..

Also, if you read through the thread, you'll see that it's more aimed at goldfarmers than anything. These are their bot spotting tips:

- They have names that make no scence and are 12 characters long for example: L3n38dbd29O0.
- Their highscores are focussed on one/two skills for example: mining only for rune ess bots and combat only for green dragon bots.
- They wear a "set" of default clothes and still have one of the default colours for that set. For example brown hunter clothes and not purple ones.
- Their hair is a strange colour and/or doesn’t usually match their clothes. Males also tend to have beard often.
- They do not wear the "old" clothes. For example a striped shirt and flared trousers.

Bot hotspots:

- Chopping ivy and other trees
- Killing ghouls near Canifis
- Cooking in Rogues' Den
- Firemaking outside of banks
- Casting Camelot Tele
- Swamp toads in the Gnome Stronghold
- Fishing in Catherby, Fishing Guild and the Piscatoris Fishing Colony
- Mining essence at Varrock
- Hunting red chinchompas in the Feldip Hills
- Playing SW, SG and PC
- Killing green dragons in the Chaos Tunnels
- Yaks on Neitiznot
- Snape grass on Waterbirth Island
- Killing giant spiders in the Stronghold of Security
- Goats in the south west of Nardah
- Casting High Alchemy at or near a bank
- RCing nats in the abbys or castle wars.
- Experiments in the Experiment Cave.
- Chaos druids in the Chaos Druid Tower or Edgeville Dung
- Sawmill near Varrock
- Implings in Puro-Puro
- Mining iron ore
- Flax in Seers' Village
- Pickpocketing Knights

God dammit, I was wondering why someone tried to teleother me while I was botting yaks. I didn't think it was that much of a botting hotspot. I just now switched to Rogue's den to get 99 cooking. Fuck it. I am going to alch in my house, do dungeoneering, or fletch at a deserted bank.
